Well I started to predict the division then stopped visiting. Just a side note, earlier in the season we saw Stamkos light the lamp a lot. In fact people were saying predicting 50 in 50. Well thats not the fact anymore.
But how about Crosby can we see him do it. He currently has 32 in 38 games. If he continues to blow away opponents he needs to average 1.5 goals in his next 12 games. Can he pull it off. We see.
Spezza will most likely be out for a while, do the Sens try to pull off a trade to add some help. If hes gone for the season, why not try to get Rolston off of waivers or deal for some one like Langenbrunner. Later dudez
Like the title says. My BS blogs consists of crap I've made up or topics I'm expanding my thoughts on. I'm a hockey fan so most things I'm talking about on here have to do with that.

Atlantic Division.
Pittsburgh Penguins
New Jersey Devils
NY Islanders
NY Rangers
Philadelphia Flyers
The Penguins will come back this year, they may or may not take the division, but this team is now rested and want prove they belong back in the finals again. Crosby will be Crosby, Malkin will be his support staff, but how will Staal do?
The Devils with the A-Train on D will make Brodeur job a little easier, expect Marty to get another 35 - 40 wins. Kovalchuk will come out of the gate flying but will level off at mid season. New coach this team just might be able to go past the second round this year.
The Islanders are young and should be fast except for Doug Weight. tavares will begin to lead the new core of players, and together they be competitive. But who's there go to guy in net.
The Rangers will be like they are every year. Lots of talent but it won't be there when they need it. Their star D-man for the year is .....Redden. OK just kidding.
The Flyers will be cocky and think they make it to the finals again. Now their goaltending is questionable for the year. They battle hard all year but this time will miss the playoffs in the last game of the season.

Northwest division.
Like the post before, here's predictions for the Northwest Division
Vancouver Canucks
Calgary Flames
Colorado Avalanche
Minnesota Wild
Edmonton Oilers
The Canucks will survive on Loungo and the Sedins. The question mark will be how the defense can last with their bumps and bruises. May I suggest a new training staff.
The Flames will be hot out of the gate then manage to stay alive throughout the season. Someone form the top line will be injured.
Colorado will compete all season long, but the goaltending won't be strong, they should be going after Niemi or Emery.
The Wild won't change from where they did last year. Hopefully the scorers will score more. This is another team in need for consistent goaltending. Let's stay healthy Havlat.
The Oilers, who will the main goaltender, Deslauriers? Khabibulin? The Bulin wall hasn't played in almost two years. Can Deslauriers play the whole season. Or will gerber be their man. lol. The forwards will continue to improve throughout the season, but will come up short in the end.

Northeast Standings predictions
I will try to predict the standing for each division one at a time. I begin with the Northeast division, simply because it has everyones favourite teams in it. MTL, OTT and TOR.
Boston Bruins
Ottawa Senators
Toronto Maple Leafs
Buffalo Sabres
Montreal Canadiens
For Bruins with the addition of Sequin and the mass amount of players at centre, they will be able to spread the scoring, and have the ability to move one of them for support. Chara will still their rock and defense and Tim Thomas will have a comeback year.
The Senators Rock!!!
What else can I say, Gonchar will help the guys on the PP. He'll QB the play so Spezza and Kovy can get open. Now they won't have to poorly try to do it all. Leclaire will continue where he left off in the playoffs.
The Laffs will make the postseason. Simply because Burke has made enough changes that will make this time competitive again.
Buffalo will only go where Ryan Miller will take, plus Vanek will be the only guy that can score for them.
The Canadiens will falter because the Price is wrong. Everything is being handed to him in net and he is not going to be able to handle the responsibility and of course the beach balls.

X-nay on Kovalchuk- EH! Theres still goalies left!
Ahh boo hoo Kovy can't get his 17 year I'm the richest player history contract. does New jersey try to sign him still. Have they spent the last 3 weeks creating back up deals to try to keep him. or will the Rangers or Kings steal him away. Well OK maybe not the rangers now that they've signed Frolov. If he does work a a long term deal it'll pan out to be 5 to 8 years long now.
Why hasn't Niemi, Emery, Theodore not found new homes yet. Emery when he heathly is a competitor. But two seasons(last season he barely played) remove from the NHL is making it harder for him to land anywhere. Will the panthers make a move on Niemi, I bet the sharks regret signing Nittymaki now. lol
Khabibulin should retire and open up space for the goal tending in Edmonton, but he still has 2 to years left on his contract. The Hurricanes could use the services of the experience of Theodore to back up Ward.
Coming soon my half predictions for the Sens upcoming season, who's gonna be gone for them by the end of the season, who will lead in points etc. Where will they finish in the standings.

Spezza and Kovy
Kovalchuk needs to realize he hasn't single handidly taken a team to the finals, or the playoffs for that matter. He's not worth 10 mill a year or worth keeping around for 40 years. Give it up Ilya and sign a 3-5 year deal like most of the leaugue.
Spezza will have a break through season, he has something to prove. There's no more X-Box in his life right now, he's married and has a daughter. He's about to mature. Thats why he's about to step up and quiet his critics, or at least the Ottawa Sun reporters. The fans will have to begin to love him, when Alfie hangs them up in three years, or maybe 4, Spezza will be named the next captain. I'm guessing he's will rack up 35 goals and 45 assists this season.

Murray wake up!!!
First off say no to Alexei Ponikarovski.
We're on the verge of losing Mount Sutton, what up with that, get him signed or are we waiting to make a deal to clear up cash. I you wait to long he'll be gone. Forget about Campoli trade his rights and a 3rd or 4th round pick to St. Louis for Kariya. You need another LW.
Sutton is our Pronger, he came into the line up and fit in very well, he hits, he gives the reporters something to quote. And he plays defense. Get Brian Lee resigned as well or get him moved for Gonchar.
Want to sell more season tickets, why isn't Foligno signed yet, trading away Spezza so you can sign Kovalchuk won't answer all of the questions.
What hell are we going to do with Savard, he concussion prone now.
The best move to do is not move Spezza, but get us someone to put the puck in the net. Thats why you need to move Volchenkov's rights for that type of player, how about Andrew Brunnette, not counting his first three season where he was a call up, but in 11 full season's as a player he averages 20 goals a year and he's only worth 2.3 mill. He can fit well with Fisher and Kovalev, then Alfie can move back up front with Spezza and Michalek.
Plus just you know this is your season in Ottawa, unless we win the Cup.

1 more day.
First round of the draft is tomorrow night. However I may miss the start. But that fine Hall wil go first to the Oilers.
Spezza rumors are running rampant, I believe the deal is not going to happen. The focus now is on moving Volchenkov. He'll end up going for a draft pick. Teams that could use his services but won't dish out the coin for him at the moment are The Wild and Predators. Its best to deal him for a pick so cash could be freed up for the remainder of the UFA's with the club.
Personally I'd like to see Kariya come to Ottawa, but we know that won't happen. Or Murray surprises me and goes against what I mentioned above. lol
We may not see too many bigs moves tomorrow, since teams still have a week for working with their UFA's, and they may also wan tto sit back and wait for someone else to start making moves.
More ramblings later.

Earthquake today..
Woke me up right out of bed. Hitting 5.0 on the richter scale in Ottawa.
In actuality what it was was that Spezza was told there's a strong chance he was headed to the Panthers, and he was just livid. So now they decided to aviod anymore quakes, they've work out deal to get him to Toronto. So after Kaberle goes to Boston for Columbus 4th overall pick, Burke will send the pick to Ottawa for Spezza and Ruutu, and will send us along with the pick, Lundmark.
PAT BURNS SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOMINATED FOR THE HHOF.
Search my older posts, the list of upcoming retirees is looking very predictable. Selanne will be next.
In addition, if Modano doesn't retire he will sign with the Wild.

Nasville making moves.
Arnott and Hamhuis are gone. Their captain and possibly top centre is gone. Top centre did I say, yes that means they may be dealing Patric Hornqvist and their 1st and 3rd round picks for Spezza and Ottawa's 4 rounder. With Spezza's contract out it frees up money for Sutton and Cullen to get resign and then enough left over to sign Kariya and Svatos. Plus A-train will be going away in exchange for the rights for another second line forward.

My take on Spezza
Sure it might be nice to trade away the no look passes to the other team. The career point per game in regular and post season, the team's current number one centre. But in return we get what?
Gagner, a third line forward
2nd and 3rd rounders that will( if they make it) trying for a spot on the team 2 years from now.
If Spezza were to get traded it would have to be for another first line calibre type player, or a top 5 draft pick, that could make the line up this coming season. We can't let him go for what if players like Montreal did with Halak. Knowing he'll probably do the same if not better on his next team.
Would he end up being traded for a Iginla type player, he should be. All I know this is a deal, if a deal goes down that Murray can't screw up if he cherishes his job in Ottawa.
Stayed tuned for some weird rumours soon, I'm getting ready to be creative. Like how Kaberle is going to end up traded for Sami Salo and a late pick.

I'm getting goooood.
Lehtonen is in, Turco will be out. If not before Friday then definitely after the Olympics. Will it be my guess of Detroit. Just you see, Osgoode would be the choice of another goalie for Chicago. Or will Turco go to St. Louis or Nashville, tiem will tell.

Kovy has been told he's going to be sent packing.
But when will it be before or after the Olympics. My main guess is LA, since they still do have space. But what other teams are willing to unload players to get him. But can Phoenix be able to pull it off??? Chances are NOPE, at least not until the new owners officially take over. More to come.

More trading?
New York Rangers and Calgary Flames are expected to announce a trade that will send Calgary centre Olli Jokinen and Brandon Prust for Ales Kotalik and Chris Higgins, wow busy Sunday for Flames and Leafs.

Leafs Shake Up..
So whats the next trade Burke.
Phaneuf and Giguere in. Some of the crap out.
No captain yet. Who's it going to be??
Will it be Capt'n Crunch pounding people from the blue line. BTW thats Phaneuf. Orrrr....
Lecavalier?
Mike Richards??
Modano?? (yeah right, he's retiring)
Phil "Batt Man" Kessell??(umm probably not)
Scott Neidermayer?? You never know but highly unlikely.
OK I'm drawing blanks. leave your comments with ideas on the captain or the next trade.
Oh yeah this is where Phil "Batman" Kessell comes from.

Rumours de jour.
Oilers stink.
Souray is going to the Kings.
Ethan Moreau not going anywhere.
Kariya gong to another team in the Western Conference. Noooooooooo
He needs to pick up his career. Send him to an eastern team where he can skate and not get hit as much. Rangers, Bruins, Florida(lol), even the Capitals.
Kovalchuk doesn't want to go to a high market team, so he's not coming to Canada. Watch for him to end up in Phoenix, LA or even Atlanta folks, yup he won't be going anywhere.

NHL Notes
So Eric Staal is named the new captain of the Hurricanes, no surprise there, but they could've at least waited till Brind'Amour retired this summer.
Lecavlier will not be a Ranger. St. Louis will be the one to get traded. The Sens are puzzled. Why? Because they're winning. Now who do they trade away at the deadine. Although the Rangers aren't getting Vinny, it won't stop them from dumping Redden, look for him to end up in California or the desert.
